Appointed as Vice-President and acting President of the Management Board of Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe sp. z o.o. on 1 September 2021.
His earlier role in corporate structure of PEJ sp. z o.o. was in the position of the Chair of Supervisory Board, from which he resigned on 31 August 2021.
Tomasz Stępień has broad managerial experience in strategic infrastructural projects of the energy sector. Since December 2015 he has been the President of GAZ – SYSTEM S.A., a state controlled operator of the gas transfer system. The key area of activity of GAZ – SYSTEM S.A. is the transfer of gas in a national system of transfer pipelines as well as the execution of such projects as the expansion of the LNG Terminal in Świnoujście and construction of the Baltic Pipe pipeline. Mr. Stępień has been associated with GAZ – SYSTEM S.A. since 2008.
In the years 2005-2007 Mr. Stępień was Deputy Director of the Department for Energy Supply Diversification at the Ministry of Economy, where he was responsible for the development Polish Government’s policies for the oil and gas sector. He also supervised the implementation of the above strategic documents by the market participants. On behalf of the Ministry of Economy, he participated in the development of the 2007-2013 Operational Programme of the Infrastructure and Environment in the area of energy security.
In the years 2007-2008 he was also involved with PGNiG, where he was responsible for the execution of strategic diversification projects, including the construction of the LNG terminal and the Baltic Pipe pipeline.
Mr. Stępień is a graduate of the Faculty of Philosophy at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow.
